Make money as a model without an agency

You can make money as a model without an agency by selling the pieces your followers already see you in. Every shoot, every post and every campaign leaves behind outfits and accessories, and the people who follow your work are the ones who want them.

Why agency work is not the only income

The agency route means castings, a booker who takes a cut and bookings that arrive when they arrive. Many models today build their own following on Instagram or TikTok and find that this following is the more reliable asset. Brands send pieces, photographers lend looks and your own wardrobe appears in post after post.

The problem is that the income from that following usually stops at brand collaborations, which again depend on your numbers. What does not depend on your numbers is the direct interest of the people who already follow you. They know your style, they ask in the comments where a jacket is from and they would rather have yours than a new one.

What a model can sell

Your archive is bigger than you think. Look at what has built up from a year of work and posting:

  • The dress or the blazer from a shoot your followers reacted to
  • Heels or sneakers you wore in a series of posts
  • The jacket from a street style set
  • Sunglasses, scarves, belts and bags that appear in your feed
  • The jeans or the shirt from a campaign you are allowed to keep
  • Pieces from your own wardrobe that you have styled in videos

What FanShop does not take is new merchandise or anything bought to resell. Each piece must be something you have worn, used or owned, and every listing is reviewed by a person before it goes live.

How FanShop works for models

FanShop is a marketplace where creators sell personal pieces to their own followers. Joining is free. There is no monthly fee, no setup cost and no follower minimum. You do not need an agency, a portfolio review or a representative.

You apply in the browser. A person reviews the application and sends an invitation by email. Before your first sale you complete an identity check once. Every listing is reviewed by a person before it goes live, which keeps the shop clean and your name protected.

Pricing starts from your side. You enter the payout you want for a piece and the shop price is calculated from that. FanShop keeps 30 percent of the shop price. The amount you entered is the amount you receive after the sale is complete.

Shipping without revealing where you live

Privacy matters even more for models than for most creators. On FanShop the buyer pays shipping at checkout. You pick a parcel shop near you, download a prepaid label and hand the parcel in. The label names FanShop as the sender and shows a creator code. Your name and your street never appear on the parcel.

Returns go to FanShop, not to your home. Shipping is within the EU, so followers in other European countries can buy.

When you are paid

Payouts run once a month to a bank or Stripe account. A sale is payable 14 days after confirmed delivery, which is the legal return window for buyers in the EU. The minimum payout is 10 euro, and smaller amounts roll over to the following month.

If a piece is returned, the buyer is refunded and nothing is paid out for that sale.

On tax: regular selling for profit may count as a business in your country. FanShop does not give legal or tax advice. Ask a tax adviser before treating this as steady income, and check your contracts about which campaign pieces you are allowed to sell.

Compared with resale apps

You could put the same blazer on Vinted, Depop or eBay. Those platforms exist and they work for clearing a wardrobe. The buyer there is a stranger who filtered by size and brand and does not know who wore it. On FanShop the buyer is your own follower, who saw the post, liked the look and wants the piece from that picture.

Common questions

Do I need an agency or a minimum follower count?

No. FanShop has no follower minimum and no agency requirement. A person reviews each application.

Can I sell pieces a brand sent me for a campaign?

Only if you own them and have worn them yourself, and your contract allows it. New merchandise and reselling are not allowed, and each listing is reviewed by a person before it goes live.

How much does FanShop keep?

FanShop keeps 30 percent of the shop price. You enter the payout you want, and the price is calculated from it.

Will the buyer see my name or address?

No. The prepaid label shows FanShop as the sender and a creator code. Returns go to FanShop.

FanShop is in pre-launch. Models can apply now, verify once and build their shop with the first pieces, so everything is ready when fans start buying at launch. You must be at least 18. Apply at webapp.fanshop.app/apply and a person will review your application.
