How to make money as a student around your classes

You make money as a student without fixed shifts by selling the clothes and sneakers your followers know, from your room, free on FanShop.

How students usually earn, and what it costs them

Students usually earn through shifts in a bar or a shop, campus jobs, tutoring, or selling textbooks and clothes on resale apps. Shifts collide with lectures and exams, tutoring needs a subject you can teach, and resale apps put you up against strangers with the same jacket. All of it works, and all of it costs the hours you need most in exam weeks.

If you post online, there is a route that bends around your timetable. Your followers have seen your hoodies, your sneakers and your jerseys, and on FanShop they can buy them from a free shop you run from your room.

Why this fits around classes

A listing takes ten minutes between lectures. A sale means printing a label in the library and dropping a parcel at the shop on your way to campus. Nothing needs you at a fixed hour, and nothing stops when exams start, because listed pieces wait in your shop until someone buys. FanShop carries the label, the payment and the returns, so the only thing you schedule is the walk to the parcel shop.

What a student wardrobe is worth to followers

The pieces that show up in your content are the ones your followers want.

  • Hoodies and jackets from your campus videos
  • Sneakers from your gym or match day content
  • A jersey from a university team or a derby
  • The backpack from your semester abroad
  • Gear from a challenge or a society event

Write when you wore each piece and where it appeared. A follower who watched the semester abroad already knows the backpack.

How you get in

  1. Apply in the browser. A person reads your application.
  2. You get your invitation by email and set up your shop.
  3. You verify your identity once (18 and over).
  4. You list your pieces, each one is approved by a person.
  5. On a sale you download your prepaid label, pick a parcel shop and drop the parcel off. FanShop is the sender on the label, your name and address stay private.

FanShop is in pre-launch. Creators apply now and build their shops, buyers arrive at launch. Setting up now means your shop is ready before the next semester starts.

What a sale pays and when

You enter the amount that should land with you, the shop price is calculated from it, and FanShop keeps 30 percent of the shop price. The buyer pays shipping at checkout, parcels ship across the EU, and returns go to FanShop.

Payouts go out once a month to your bank or Stripe account. A sale becomes due 14 days after confirmed delivery, which covers the buyer's statutory right of withdrawal. The minimum payout is 10 euros, and smaller amounts roll into the next month.

Common questions

Is there an age requirement?

Yes. You verify your identity once when you join, and you need to be 18 or over.

Can I keep selling when I go home for the holidays?

Yes. Your shop goes where you go. Parcels ship across the EU, and the prepaid label works at any parcel shop you pick.

Do I have to pay tax on this?

For most creators this is relaxed. Selling things from your everyday life is usually treated as a private sale, and the rules depend on the country you live in. Under EU platform rules, FanShop reports nothing to the tax office as long as you stay under 30 sales and 2,000 euros per year. If you sell regularly, a quick word with a tax adviser settles it. This is general information, not legal or tax advice. Full details are on our Notes and FAQ page.

What can I sell, and what stays out?

Pieces you have personally worn, used or owned: clothing, shoes and gear. New merchandise, reselling and underwear stay out, nothing sexual is listed, and presentation is always clean.
