What can I sell to make money? Start with what you own

You can sell used items, skills or handmade goods, and if people follow you online, the clothing and gear they know is where to start, free on FanShop.

The categories people sell, and what each takes

When people ask what they can sell to make money, the answers fall into four groups: things they no longer need, things they make, skills and time, and stock they buy to resell. Each takes something different. Used items need a place where buyers look, handmade goods need hours and materials, skills need clients, and resale needs capital up front.

One group is missing from most lists. If you have followers online, the clothing, shoes and gear they have seen you wear is its own category, and FanShop is the free shop built for it.

Why what you own beats what you would buy

Buying stock to resell means guessing what strangers want and holding what they do not. Selling what you already own means zero spend, because every piece was bought for your own life. Add an audience that recognises those pieces and you have supply and demand in one place. FanShop connects the two with a shop under your own name and no follower minimum.

What sells from your own life

Go through your wardrobe with your content in mind.

  • Clothing: the hoodie from your videos, the jacket from a series, a shirt from a thumbnail
  • Shoes: sneakers that have had their season, boots from a trip, trainers from a race
  • Gear: a backpack, a cap, a jersey, the bag you carried in every vlog

For each piece, the listing says when you wore it, where it appeared and what condition it is in. That story is the part no other seller can write.

How you get in

  1. Apply in the browser. A person reads your application.
  2. You get your invitation by email and set up your shop.
  3. You verify your identity once (18 and over).
  4. You list your pieces, each one is approved by a person.
  5. On a sale you download your prepaid label, pick a parcel shop and drop the parcel off. FanShop is the sender on the label, your name and address stay private.

FanShop is in pre-launch. Creators apply now and build their shops, buyers arrive at launch. The question of what to sell is answered the moment your shop has its first three pieces.

What a sale pays and when

You enter the amount that should land with you, the shop price is calculated from it, and FanShop keeps 30 percent of the shop price. The buyer pays shipping at checkout, parcels ship across the EU, and returns go to FanShop.

Payouts go out once a month to your bank or Stripe account. A sale becomes due 14 days after confirmed delivery, which covers the buyer's statutory right of withdrawal. The minimum payout is 10 euros, and smaller amounts roll into the next month.

Common questions

Can I buy things cheaply and sell them for more?

Not on FanShop. The shop is for pieces you have personally worn, used or owned. Reselling and new merchandise stay out, and so does underwear, nothing sexual is listed, and presentation is always clean.

What if I have no followers at all?

Then a resale app is the right place for your used items. FanShop is for people with an online audience, however small, because the recognition is what the sale runs on.

Do I have to pay tax on this?

For most creators this is relaxed. Selling things from your everyday life is usually treated as a private sale, and the rules depend on the country you live in. Under EU platform rules, FanShop reports nothing to the tax office as long as you stay under 30 sales and 2,000 euros per year. If you sell regularly, a quick word with a tax adviser settles it. This is general information, not legal or tax advice. Full details are on our Notes and FAQ page.

Does it cost anything to open the shop?

No. FanShop is free, there is no monthly fee and no follower minimum. FanShop earns 30 percent of the shop price only when a piece sells.
